Exercise Stats 5/17-5/23

Well, another week that I'm not super thrilled with, however Ethan was sick all week so I couldn't take him to the gym childcare which hindered things a bit. This morning I met with a group of ladies from church that my friend Rhonda recently started. They are meeting Monday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings at 5:30am for a devotion and 2.2 mile walk or run. This morning there were 18 of us! I am planning on doing it only on Saturdays, as the other days Kevin and I want to go to the gym together. Here's how my week looked:

Monday: OFF
Tuesday: Disneyland: lots of walking and carrying Ethan.
Wednesday: OFF
Thursday: 30 minutes eliptical, 20 minutes weights
Friday: 10 minutes eliptical, 10 minutes treadmill, 10 minutes bike, 10 minutes weights.
Saturday: 2.2 mile walk
Sunday: OFF

My goal for next week is to go to the gym Monday-Friday with Kev at 8am. Then we are leaving Friday at noon for Spirit West Coast.

One week...

....until Kev and I leave on our trip to Spirit West Coast Del Mar. For those of you who don't know, it is a 3 day Christian music festival held at the Del Mar fairgrounds. All four of us plus my Mother in law went last year and camped in the RV. It was a lot of fun, but hard with the kids. My Mother in law took care of them at night back at the RV so that we could enjoy all the music, but most of the time I was just feeling guilty about that and worried that they were giving her a hard time. So this year we are going KID-FREE. Dylan is spending the weekend camping with his Grandma, and I am splitting up Ethan care into three shifts. I don't think we have ever spent more than 24 hours away from the kids. I have a room reserved about 15 minutes away in San Diego and we are both so excited to spend a weekend away renewing ourselves both spiritually and as a couple. We are HUGE Christian rock fans and these are some of the bands we are looking forward to seeing:

  • The OC Supertones: they are re-uniting for this event and they are one of the main reasons we just had to go. We have been big fans of theirs for the last 10 years.

  • Stellar Kart

  • Tenth Avenue North

  • Hawk Nelson

  • Seventh Day Slumber

  • Francesca Battistelli

We tend to like the non-headliner bands (like the ones above) better than the headliners. But the headlinders are all great as well: Skillet, Newsboys, Jars of Clay, and Steven Curtis Chapman.

So a big thanks to those of you that are helping with my kids: My Mom, my Mother in law Robin, and my good friends Michelle and Kaley. You guys are awesome!!

PORTRAITS!

About a week and a half ago we spent about an hour in the morning doing a family photo shoot with Katie McGihon. She is so awesome! I am so in love with these pictures, I can't even begin to decide which ones I want on my walls. As you will see, Ethan was his usual self, happy as long as he was doing his own thing. Here they are:

He was running around like this the whole time!

A peaceful moment (yeah right Ethan was screaming, lol)

HAHAHA: What a nice family, right?

LOVE this one!

My blue-eyed Boys

SO cute, I love all of these ones where he is against the wall

Cheese!

Awww, Love my boys

Haha, this one is hilarious!

She even managed to get a cute picture of us

This is my favorite of Dylan

Our only Family shot where Ethan's not crying

Thanks again Katie!!

Exercise Week 5/10-5/16

Well, let me tell you that I am really glad that I decided to keep myself accountable this way. I am still recovering from a cold this week, and if I wasn't thinking about having to post what I've been doing, I probably wouldn't have gone to the gym at all. I am still not back to where I want to be, but I had a much better week and am feeling good about it!

Monday: OFF
Tuesday: OFF
Wednesday: 45 minutes eliptical, 20 minutes weights
Thursday: 35 minutes eliptical, 20 minutes weights
Friday: we walked as a family to IHOP: about 2 miles round trip, had to carry ethan part of the way and it was hot!
Saturday: 35 Minutes elliptical, 20 minutes weights
Sunday: OFF

Saturday: Photo shoot in the morning with the boys and church at night

I had pretty good reasons not to go but I am still disappointed in myself. Now I have a cold, but I am going to Zumba tomorrow night whether I want to or not!!

Happy Mother's Day Mom!

My Mom and I (1982)

God could not be in every place
With loving hands to help erase
The teardrops from each baby's face,
And so He thought of mother.
:::::
He could not send us here alone
And leave us to a fate unknown;
Without providing for His own,
The outstretched arms of mother.
:::::
God could not watch us night and day
And kneel beside our crib to pray,
Or kiss our little aches away;
And so He sent us mother.
:::::
And when our childhood days began,
He simply could not take command.
That's why He placed our tiny hand
Securely into mother's.
:::::
The days of youth slipped quickly by,
Life's sun rose higher in the sky.
Full grown were we,
yet ever nigh To love us still, was mother.
:::::
And when life's span of years shall end,
I know that God will gladly send,
To welcome home her child again,
That ever-faithful mother.

Love you SO much Mom!

Year 28!

It was after this birthday dinner at Friday's, on May 6th 2001, that Kev took me to a sculpture garden at the civic center park and asked me to marry him. One of the best days of my life!

I Want...to become a healthier person.
I Wish... my Hubby didn't have to work so much.
I Hate... that I procrastinate.
I Am... so blessed!
I Miss... sleeping in.
I Hear... silence, and it is golden :-)
I Wonder... what my boys will be like when they grow up.
I Can't Imagine... life without God.
I Am Not...as patient as I'd like to be.
I Sing...harmony to every song I can figure out!
I Dance... to make Ethan dance along.
I Cry...when anyone else does.
I Am not Always... the hands-on Mom I strive to be.
I Do have... the most wonderful family: immediate and extended.
I Would... like to learn to ballroom dance.
I Write... on my blog.
I Make... really good chili.
I Confuse... my husband with my moodiness.
I Know.... that year 28 is going to be fantastic!
I Should... worry less and pray more!

We are heading to my parents house tonight to celebrate my birthday with my family. My Dad is making BBQ ribs with his homemade sauce, yum! This morning, Kevin and the boys gave me my present: The Broadway series (5 shows) at the McCallum next season!! I am SO excited, they are all shows that I have been wanting to see. My birthday always brings up fond memories for me; on my 17th birthday Kevin and I kissed for the first time, and on my 19th birthday Kevin asked me to marry him. I am so thankful that I get to celebrate this birthday and the rest of my life with him!

"Aren't All Religions the Same?"

This is a question posed and answered at church a couple weeks ago. This message answered so many questions that I have thought about my whole life. Pastor Bob had a Professor from Biola University, Craig Hazen, who has studied Christianity and World Religions his entire career come and answer questions on this subject. These are the main questions they addressed:

  • What do you think most strongly influences the majority of people’s beliefs or choice of
    religion? Why?
  • At the end of the day we’re all worshipping the same God aren’t we? Why
    does it matter which religious path we take?
  • If the various religions really are different how can we know which one, if
    any, is correct? What criteria or standards can a person use to decide?
  • How is the Bible different from other religious books like the Qur’an, the
    Book of Mormon, the Bhagavad-Gita, and others?
  • What sets Jesus apart from all the other religious figures in other world
    religions? Why is He so unique or better?
  • If you studied all the other religions, why aren’t you Buddhist, Mormon
    or Muslim? Why are you a Christian?

Hearing all of the information they put forth made a real and profound impact on my life and on my faith. I urge you, if this is something that you have ever even wondered about before, to listen to this podcast.

Garage Sale Find

I went garage saling this morning with my friend Rhonda. She scored big time but I was happy to find some clothes for the boys and this picture frame/hook thingy pictured above (priced at 5 dollars, I offered 3 and got it). I actually thought it was going to be too big for this space but it isn't and I am happy to have something to hang the keys, purse, and diaper bag on. These items were always taking over my chairs and counters. I just need to decide what pictures I want to put in it and I will be set!

Exercise Stats 4/26- 5/2

This is a picture of a Zumba Class, I'm digging it!
Monday: OFF
Tuesday: Zumba
Wednesday: Zumba
Thursday: Zumba ( I was 15 minutes late so I did some weights afterwards)
Friday: 30 minutes eliptical 20 minutes weights ( I am up to level 7 which is great because I started at 1)
Saturday: 30 minutes eliptical, 20 minutes weights.
Sunday: OFF

Weigh-In

I lost exactly the amount that I was hoping and praying for..... 10 pounds! One month down, the rest of my life to go! This took about 5 weeks as I started a little before the beginning of April. Usually I wouldn't be satisfied with 2 pounds a week, but I am thrilled because I know that it is REAL weight loss instead of that quick water weight loss you get with fad diets. Keep praying for us!
