Yeah, it's been way too long since I've blogged. Yes, it's partly because I haven't been exercising and I'm embarassed about it, but Ill leave that for another post.
The third week in June our church held our annual Vacation Bible School, or as we call it: SUMMER SPECTACULAR. It is really just that: spectacular. The amount of work that goes into it is just amazing, and the results, even more so.

Theme: Sir James and the Kingdom of the Dragon
Verse: "Don't just listen to the word, you fool yourselves if you do that, you must do what it says" James 1:22
Mission: $13,000 raised (in quarters) for Vision of Hope Ministries in Haiti
Attendance: 1,120 kids + 73 preschoolers
502 volunteers
Local outreach: contact made with 160 families who don't attend church
This was Dylan's first year with the big kids. He got to experience everything: the stories, the music, the games. He had SO much fun. I served with my awesome Sister-in-law, Danielle, in a four year old classroom and we had really good kids and had such a great week. Even the pre-schoolers got to play outside, have storytime, craft, music time with Rob Biagi, and lots of time to play with their friends in the classroom.
The whole thing takes everyone in Children's Ministry (especially Pastor H) half of the year to plan, and as stated above, over 500 volunteers to put into action. All of it is so worth it when you see that room FULL of kids jumping, dancing, and praising God. SO SO SO awesome, it is hard for me to even put into words!
